Lakefront improvements will be accomplished as a result of collaborative efforts between public and private partnerships.

To begin the lakefront planning process and select a firm that would formulate long-range plans for the lakefront area, a committee comprised of representatives from the Decatur Park District, City of Decatur, Chamber of Commerce, labor, and the Council of Neighborhood Organizations (CONO) met on a number of occasions. The group chose internationally recognized AECOM to produce a master plan that will transform the rough gemstone that is Lake Decatur into a polished jewel that will enhance quality of life for the residents of Decatur and serve as a catalyst for community growth.
